Damaging winds forecast to hit Gippsland this afternoon


A SEVERE WEATHER warning has been issued for Gippsland residents.

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting winds peaking at 95km/h will hit parts of West, South West, Central, South and East Gippsland forecast districts this afternoon.

Winds are expected to average between 55 and 70km/h.

The State Emergency Service advises residents to move vehicles undercover or away from trees, secure loose outdoor items and not to approach fallen power lines.
