The Gippsland region has experienced an increase in applications for public housing, bucking the statewide downward trend.
The 1.7 per cent increase has seen the region’s waiting list rise by 25 applications in the March quarter, up from 1,495 in December to 1,520 in March.
Five of eight regions saw a decrease in waiting lists, causing an overall 1.8 per cent reduction in Victoria’s public housing waiting list, down from 38,566 in December to 37,887 in March.
The Morwell office, which covers towns including Warragul and Drouin, saw the biggest increase of the region, rising by 27 applications.
The Sale office also saw an increase of 16 applications, while the Bairnsdale office fell by 18 applications.
