Proposed TAFE alliance includes GippsTAFE

Partnership: The University of Ballarat has proposed a TAFE alliance which includes GippsTAFE. Photo: William PJ Kulich.

A PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP between six regional TAFE institutes and a regional university will attempt to stop course closures resulting from recent funding cuts.

The ‘Menzies Alliance,’ proposed by the University of Ballarat, would unite GippsTAFE with institutes in Bendigo, Ballarat, Sunraysia and Woodonga with the aim of combining under-enrolled classes so they can run.

Under the partnership, courses with too few students to be run at individual TAFE institutes will be run as part of a University of Ballarat degree program, allowing students to take the subjects.
